Sea Ice Marathon Weekend offers you a unique running event combined with a weekend in the winter wonderland. You get the great opportunity to run on the frozen sea, which is internationally known for its amazing ice track. As if it wasn't already a lot, let's add one of the most sought-after winter activities in the North - a snowmobile ride! To complete the package, you will not only experience how it feels to slide over the snow and ice with a snowmobile. On this guided tour you will also hunt the fantastic northern lights, a dream that is at the top of many bucket lists!
But it's not just the race and the activities that are attractive. Luleå city also offers good shopping opportunities and several nice restaurants. You can take a nice walk through the charming centre and enjoy the typical Swedish fika.
Another attraction in our fantastic city is located just outside Luleå's city centre. On the UNESCO World Heritage List, Gammelstad Church Town, you can visit cozy shops with locally designed products and crafts and experience the beautiful and unique world heritage with or without a guide.

On arrival at Luleå airport, you will be welcomed by one of our guides, who will then drive you to your accommodation in the centre of Luleå. After checking in to your hotel, the rest of the day is free to explore the city. You can stroll through the streets, settle down in a cozy cafe and have a fika or check out one of the many restaurants.
In the evening at 19:30 it's time for your scooter ride. You will be picked up at 19:30 by your guide who will drive you about 3 swedish miles out to the cozy village of Mörön. It is a place that has a good starting point for both driving on great snowmobile trails in the forest, but also out on the ice where it is completely dark. Being far away from the city lights gives you the best chance to see the Northern Lights. It's a unique tour that will create fantastic memories! At 23:00 you will be back at the hotel and you will hopefully sleep really well before the competition day!
After enjoying a healthy breakfast buffet, you will eventually take the short walk to Södra Hamnplan. Here you will be greeted by a wonderful atmosphere with many tagged runners who are all equally looking forward to the day's experience. This race that leads you for many kilometers on the frozen Baltic Sea is a unique race that cannot be found anywhere else in the same way. If the sun is shining, you get spring feelings from all this light even though it is winter and you are surrounded by ice and snow. Luckily, Luleå is one of the cities with the most hours of sunshine in all of Sweden, a nice starting point for creating spring feelings 🙂
After completing your race, it will be time for relaxation. The hotel's spa will await you to reward your muscles after the effort on the ice road.
After a wonderful weekend in Luleå, it is time to travel home. If you have a couple of hours before departure, you can do one last activity. Maybe a snowshoe hike? Or go out with an experienced guide on an ice fishing trip. There is much more to experience here in the north, just check our website.
If you have an early flight, it's time to get ready and check out of your hotel. One of our guides will drive you to the airport and we wish you a pleasant journey home.
